Warhawks get new point of view with helmet cameras for spring game

Article Source - My Ark La Miss

At the ULM Spring game tomorrow, new helmets equipped with digital cameras will be giving the Warhawks – and their coaches – a new point of view on the field.

Sports Video Innovations (SVI) is the brainchild of the video technology that goes into the SchuttVision helmets. It's the first time that a camera has been streamlined and rugged enough to integrate into the helmet -- in fact, the helmet is a camera, approved by the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE). SchuttVision helmets are being used in partnership with the American Football League, and the interest is exploding with college and pro football teams.

College coaches, such as Rutgers Coach Kyle Flood, see SchuttVision as an invaluable tool: “It’s really been a helpful teaching tool for us as a program, for the coaches to be able to look at the film and see exactly where the quarterback’s eyes are before the snap, where they are looking during the play. I think it’s just one more piece of information that (offensive coordinator Ralph) Friedgen and his staff can use to help coach those quarterbacks and make sure that everything we’re doing is in the right sequence up until the point they throw the ball.” (source: mycentraljersey.com)

The SchuttVision helmet is unobtrusive, fully impact resistant and NOCSAE Compliant. With SchuttVision, the point-of-view football experience allows every player on the field to see a new perspective and help improve their game.
